Comments Walkthrough (w/Commentary)
Thursday, September 24, 2009 - 12:22pm
Hey Everyone,
We just revamped our comment features for both videos and forum posts. I wanted to take just a few seconds to fill you in on the changes.
Threading:
The first thing you'll notice is a link below any pre-existing comment or forum post titled: "Reply to Comment." This handy little guy lets you respond to a specific comment, so you can use it to answer someone if, let's say, they ask a direct question.
For example: Let's say I post a video and I get a comment from NholdR asking "How fast were you going?" I would use "Reply to Comment" to tell him, "Ludicrous speed!"
Another reason to use "Reply to Comment" is that the original commenter (NholdR in the case above) will be notified of your response. If you were to post a new comment however, they would not be notified. So be sure to use "Reply to Comment" whenever you want to address someone directly.
Notifications:
We've also added some new settings so you'll be notified when people are talking to (or about) you.
You will now receive email when someone comments on your video or forum post or when someone replies to your comment. You can also turn on and off notifications for both of these items in the settings section of your profile.
Speed and Page Loading:
We also put a lot of work into making comment posting easier and faster. Comments will now post without reloading the page, so if you're watching a video feel free to post a comment without fear of the video restarting from a page load.
That's it for comments, if you have any questions you can always hit us up.
Thanks and let's get chatty!
