I usually export my videos from adobe premiere pro using 1mbit max .8mbit target rate at 480x270 ... usually its about 16megs for 2:30mins....
Not bad for web, but ive been using such a low compression rate for my own webserver.
I see here that i could possible upload higher quality videos?
What resolution / bit rate is being used for the webcontent?
720P so 1280X720 at 3-5mbps
I believe the 480P (720X480) will be hires as well
So i just exported my 2:30min movie to
720x480
and when i upload it to the site it looks awful...

any clue why? the original footage looks great... im compressing to H.264 720x480
you definately need to upload it on 1280x720 and 5Mbps otherwize it will look swiss,you should be looking at a file size inexcess of 200Mb for that length in HD on those settings when its been rendered. out of curiosity was it shot in HD or SD ?

if you shoot HD upload at 1280X720 @ 3mbps -5bmps
I have uploaded SD and it was in the HD mode (widescreen)
5min videos for me at 5mbps are about 300mb Rule of thumb, ALWAYS edit from raw video and save at an equal bitrate for best quality picture.
I invested in a 1TB hard drive strictly for my video so i do not have to worry about hard drive space. Storage is so cheap these days that you should not chimp out on quality. And really if you have a crappy day of doing video just toss it .
I do tons of video editing shooting with a real HD camera (well a real prosumer HD) Canon XH A1... but ive only been having trouble with the ContourHD and export options...
Right now i got 5mpbs target rate 2 pass and 1280x720 and its about 90megs for 2min 30second...
Im going to upload it now and see what it looks like
