UPLOADED file converted to what specs?

tommac13

Re my last upload at;
http://vholdr.com/video/river-...

The orig file was HD shot in HD mode and process thru Sony Vegas MS Platium and saved in HD as a WMV.

On this end the video is great, but after upload to VholdR, it has lost some quality and the aspect ratio is off... So, what format is best to upload ( other than raw ) that will retain its features and what compression is done at your end?

TIA
Tom

hi, i had a note come through from nate and his suggestion was to only goto 5Mbps and "If you want this to show up full screen after transcode then you'll want to do either, 1920x1080 or 1280x720." it works! i tend to render my vids in WMV 5Mbps 1280x720 now and that seems to get it right. you can go use 8Mbps, i only use that when its a small file to start with but 5Mbps is what the vholdr server is best suited for so the extra is some what wasted.

hope this helps,
Dave

Hi Tom,

Yeah, 1440x1080 is an anamorphic screen, not a true 16:9, which is why it came out square the first time. Stick withe the true 16:9 sizes like 1280x720 and you'll be good to go.
