Hey. I just got my new ContourHD, and i'm really happy with the video quality (I'm the videographer for my airsoft team, but i'm also a squad leader and the only tactical medic... so the only footage i'm was able to capture before was when I chose to sit a game out... so hooray)
Anyway, i've noticed that the volume that audio is recorded from testing the camera out is really quiet. I just got it yesterday, so I have only done a few short tests... is this normal for the camera or is my mic pretty beat? o.O
To give an example, the cam barely picked up any sound while recording outside, walking around, speaking, and loading a magazine into the gun.
I just now did a quick test by just recording myself and speaking, directly to the camera from about 4 feet away... I had to crank the sound on the computer to 350% to even make my voice audible, and at that point, it was garbled and choppy since it was recorded at such a low volume.
Camera problem, or is it just me?
If it's just me, is it fixable?
If need be I could test record a video for you to get an idea of what I mean...

try removing the laser warning sticker under the camera as it hides the mic hole. most of us keep it covered to keep wind noise down when at speed, but if your using yours a running, pace at the most, this shouldnt be an issue.
Oh... well thanks i'll try that out now :]
I was looking all over for that mic hole but couldn't find it, haha.
[Edit] Ehhh didn't really do much. :/ Is the mic only meant to pick up loud noises? Because i'm talking at a normal level and i'm almost inaudible.
Is this a ContourHD or a ContourHD1080p?
The 1080p has a mic gain option using Easy Edit.
Standard ContourHD
the mic on the standard contourhd like yours had a less sensative mic put in as the original vholdrs mic was realy sensative, but that said i regularly have ridden by mtb on the local cliffs and its not picked up hardly any wind noise but it will pick up the waves hitting the shore about 100 yards/meters away! its almost as if the mic was nearer the waves than the camera!?!?!? we are not talking big waves either, couple of foot at the most. give it a good test in the usual arena of your use, when your messing about, and see how it turns out.
Oh. Well then, that brings my hopes up. Thanks, i'll give it a try in live action and see how well it works.
I was just being skepticle. Figured if it could barely pick up speech from 5 feet, why would it pick up gunfire and shouting and such from 50 feet+.
I'll post again when I test it out. Thanks.
