hello everybody
i have my contourHD since a week, and im very happy to have one. its a lot of fun.
but there are some things that doesnt make me happy:
most time the recordings are good. switch the record button - one beep - switch back - two beeps. like it should be.
sometimes the camera doesnt stop recording, the red light in the front doesnt go green, and there are no beeps...
i tried to stop the recording by switching the rec-slide back and forth, but nothing happened...
when i open the back door, the camera shuts down, and the captured material is gone... :( yesterday i had a 2-hour recording, and the at the end it was all for the ass...
does anybody have the same problems?
what can i do to fix it? i want a camera which i can count on!

I've got exactly the same problem with the ContourHD.
I've got also contact with support.
They give me a new firmware update. Unfortunately it was not the solution.
Now I've contacted support again and I'm still waiting for a response!

I've the same problem! Sometimes it works and yet the camera "get stuck"!
It's kind of iritating!
I'm living in France so who I'm supposed to contact? Will iI have to send it back to the USA?...

I talked to the support team about this, it seems like you're four are experiencing an issue with your top switch. There are a few where this is a problem with the magnet. Try pressing down as you slide the switch forward to see if it works, that should help identify the switch as the problem point. If you are having issues with your switch working intermittently then go ahead and open a case via the support email and we'll get you sorted out.

I have about the same problem. but my contour HD record each time only 48minutes and 31seconds not more not les. always just the same??? and after a few seconds the contour begins record again.

The record doesn't stop when switching back the button. In addiction, in 2 or 3 times I've encountered a similar problem switching forward the button... and the recording doesn't start. In both case the camera is "dead"; I have to remove and re-insert the battery to make the camera ready again.
I've already tried to pull down the switch, without success...
The firmware is 1.29

The first time switching the record switch off did nothing - the light stayed red. Tried the power button and that didn't do anything. The only way to stop it was to eject the battery. The file was corrupted and the camera wouldn't record again until the corrupted file was deleted.
The second time it seemed to stop recording at some point but the record switch and power wouldn't stop recording again. Only way was to eject battery again. The file wasn't playable but the camera would record again with the file still on the card.
