Computer Hardware

andyturner

Hi,

1. Maybe we need a forum called “Hardware”!

2. I'm contemplating buying an Apple Mac because they have a reputation for handling media files better than PCs. Obviously, bigger, better, faster etc is always best but I don't want to spend thousands. Has anyone got VHOLDR experience with any of these????
a. Mac Mini
b. Mac Book
c. Mac Pro

3. I also like to compile projects i.e. crop files, special effects, clip transitions, music overlays, subtitles, title pages etc. I'm guessing it needs a "Mac Pro" but has anyone got away with using a “Mac Mini” for a 10-minute project without it falling over every half hour?

Thanks and regards,
Andy

i know that the mac book will play the files in quicktime pro (borrowed a freinds one day) but he uses a mac pro desktop for his editting needs (he spent over 2k on it!!!!) im sure someone with a better idea will post soon though.

Hi Andy,

I can't say we've used a mini for editing, but I have seen the new ones playback video for quite a while at a tradeshow with no problems. I was actually blown away.
