Wher to Hoset and how

cedwards874

Excuse my ignornance in this area, but I seem to be bashing my head against a wall.

I have a ContourHD, I'd like to be able to put my video somewhere on the internet without loosing a lot of quality.

I'd also like to be able to edit my footage, removing boring sections, add titles, etc.

I use Windows, have two computers, one running XP and the other Vista.

I've used EasyEdit to shorten videos and post up to the VHoldr site.

I have CyberLink Powerdirector and this is a nice, easy to use editing program. The problem, when I add some titles, and produce as a high quality .mov, my resulting filesize quadruples in size, meaning I cannout put anything over a minute or two in length up to the Vholdr site. If I set it to medium quality, I loose serious quality.

Pushing to Youtube, my buddy says my video is jumpy and unwatchable.

Thanks.

Oh and something else I'm having a problem with, It appears some program is holding onto my .mov files, probably Quicktime, and will not let me delete unwanted clips, so I'm slowly clogging up hard disk space.

try and save the file at a max of 6mbps that way you keep the quality and dont have a huge file size, be aware that cliping in easyedit recodes the video actualy making it smaller therefore losing some of the quality. try and do all the editting in cyberlink and you should find you get better results. as for the inability to delete the files which machine wont let you delete xp or vista?

are you just pressing the delete button, or are you right cicking and selecting delete. if you are trying to delete in easyedit and its not letting you, you can open the file in 'my documents' called 'vholdr videos' and delete the individual videos

In Windows Explorer, on my XP machine, if i try to delete a .mov file, it tells me another user has the file and will not let me delete, this is true of either right clicking on the file and trying to delete or clicking the delete icon on the toolbar.

Also, if I take the memory card out and put it in my SanDisk card reader, I have issues ejecting the card reader, if I do anything with the files, that I recorded from the camera, on the memory card, which is now in the SanDisk reader.

more questions! what brand/class of card are you using? also has it been formated in Fat32? and when it says that another user has the file is it refering to another 'user account' on the computer or another programme?
if you have quicktime running, for example,it wont let you delete as it will think that the other programme is using it. just make sure that there are no other programmes running and also make sure that you are listed as the 'administrator' on the computer, and that no other users are 'logged on'

The card is a PNY class 4, 8GB. I did not format the card before i put it in the camera and recorded to it.

The camera appeared to record to it fine.

As regards my PC, I have only one user setup, and am running as Admin. I do not have a Quicktime window open, when this issue occurs, unless it's runnning in background that I'm not aware of.

I appreciate all your help, thanks.

Ahhh.... the lack of formatting may be the causing the challenges your having. give it a go and see what happens, it may be worth doing a full format for the first time in Fat32 and seeing if it makes a difference.
its a bit wierd with the computer not letting you delete the files though? there is a slim chance it may be linked to the lack of formatting. if i can think of anything else ill let you know ;-)

I restarted my computer. I reformatted the memory card, while it was in my ContourHd, connected to my PC via a USB cable.

I recorded a short 10 second video using my ContourHD, imported to my PC using EasyEdit and clicking the checkbox to delete the video from the ContourHD once the import was complete.

Did not play the video in EasyEdit or Quicktime, exited EasyEdit, went to the folder that had the imported file, in Windows Explorer, tried to delete the video and it says it's in use by another program or user

I just recorded this http://www.vholdr.com/node/490...

By the way, if Power Director is creating large files you can still upload them, you'll just need to use the Easy Edit software, it can upload up to 600MB. Once you're done editing you just need to save the export into the VholdR Videos folder or remap to the new video location.

Thanks,
