Software just for altering camera settings

roene

To change the settings of the Contour HD 1080p camera you need to use the Easy Edit software. I can imagine that sometimes you wish to change settings during the day while filming (like skiing and changing weather conditions). I think most of us are not carrying a laptop at that moment.

It would be nice if you could hook up the camera to something small like a PDA/smartphone which has an usb-port and then configure the camera with software just for that purpose.

I don't know if it would be possible. And maybe I'm the only one who has this wish, it's just a thought.

Thanks for the answers and suggestions. A netbook is probably the thing that comes closest to what I'm looking for. Although it will still be too big to put in my pocket (and I usually don't ski with a backpack). But I will look into that. Are there netbooks capable of playing the video-files without converting first?

What really would be nice is something like this device: the SmartQ V5 http://www.clonedinchina.com/2....

It's capable of playing 1080p video-files with HDMI output (but I don't know if .MOV-files are supported) and it's also able to run Windows CE, Ubuntu, and Android. With an application to change the camera settings, it would be the perfect device (for me).

The search continues...

I have no problem playing the ContourHD videos on the 1620 if I leave them in MOV format... But I do the download/replay only, no real editing. You just need Quicktime installed.
I do all the video movie work on the larger home computer ( faster unit = faster editing )

As to the SmartQ V5 ... specs do't look like their up to playback of HD video ( it has a 600mhz processor) But there is the Viliv S5 that may work fine...

Overall, you should watch the netbooks as they may not have enough 'horsepower' to play the larger bitrate vids without being jumpy.
