Battery Life: Recording vs. Not Recording

joeybike

Anybody know how long my battery will last with the camera turned on, but not shooting video? Like "standby" mode.

Just wondering if I am between action shots and I leave the camera booted up, does the battery drain just as fast, or does actual recording drain significant amounts of juice as compared to not recording?

Great question! After about 30 minutes without recording the camera will power off to preserve battery life. You should get about 2 hours of battery life when continuously recording. When recording intermittently the battery life will last longer. Enjoy!

Dang! I wish I would of read this 5 hours ago. I went out on the bike this afternoon to get some footage. Not long after hitting the road I came to a nice twisty section. Once it ended I stopped recording. I got to my main destination about 40 minutes later and started recording again. To bad it turned off. Missed all the footage I thought I was recording. Bummer.
