vista driver support

KevinSchmidt

When I connect my camera, windows recognises a new device and tries to install it, but can not find a driver for it. Windows then asks for the disk that came with my camera... no disk in box.

Where can I find a driver?

Could there be something wrong with my camera?

This is a Christmas gift and I am anxious to try it out. Please hurry.

Thank you.

you should have a disc in the box to install the software that runs on your desktop, even if its not the up to date software it should update. the disc should be located in the lid of the box, this needs to be installed before the camera is connected.

Mine did not come with a disc, either.

I will try the above link. THX

The manual says the software is installed on the included 1GB Micro SD card.

Another thing to make sure of is that the record switch is slid toward the rear of the camera when powering it on and connecting it to your computer. If the camera is powered on with the record switch forward it will turn on in the firmware update mode.

Please send me a message if you are continuing to have troubles.

I cant seem to get a driver either as mine came without a disc.

Windows Vista will find its own driver to recognize the camera and the card, but it 1) does not appear to charge the camera, and 2) wont allow the camera to be detected by the desktop software that I downloaded.

The "drivers" directory on my card has three images. No drivers within it.

What works:
The camera records (video and sound)
Windows will recognize the camera.
I can watch the videos using windows software.
That is it!

If you see a red light on the camera by the USB port when plugged into your computer you know that your camera is charging. The best way to check if you camera has charged is to power on your camera (after the recommended 4 hour charge time) and then press the back power button once to turn on the indicator lights- the battery light should be green.

Also, although the camera may not be detected by the software you can still save your videos by dragging and dropping the videos from your camera via my computer to the folder start/documents/vholdr videos. Then when you open the vholdr desktop software your videos will be in your library!

Enjoy!

Did the drag and drop and it worked to get the videos in the desktop software. Thanks!

If it is not detected by the desktop software please see the above recommendation on dragging and dropping files.

If the camera is not recognized by your computer via start/computer make sure the camera is powered on (w/ the record switch slid away from the lens) and that you have the proper 2GB or less SD card. If you continue to have problems please send me a message.

Cheers!

Hi, first time user (christmas gift) orthe camera, and personnaly not a computer freak... When I first plugged it to charge the batterry, everything seemed allright, then 2 weeks later, gone skiing and triend to film. After about 1 minute, the camera was doing a double beep and turning off by itself. I tought it was the batterry that had uncharged in the waiting period but when I tried it inside, it seemed to work allright and the charge indicator was green... Going back on my skis in the afternoon: same problem. After that I went on my laptop to try to check the 1 minute sequences I had shot and succeede in downloading the software. After that the computer would not recognize my camera (it had been recognize as a F drive minutes before...) and the battery got uncharged and would not charge ever again...

What is going on? I want to shoot ski rides asap, what can I do???

my unit displays a rapidly blinking charge light seconds after connecting via USB to my x64 vista machine.
it fails to charge, cant get video, VHOLDR wont boot when connected USB like it will with XP.

vista refuses to like this device.
