I was wondering, if one were to disable the mic completely, prevent sound from being recorded to the card, how much extra record time do you think that would get you on a 2GB card?

From a warranty perspective, if you were to take apart the camera to physically disable the mic then you would void your warrant. Additionally, I'm not certain how much additional record time you would receive by doing so. However, with several editing software's you are able to remove the audio from your videos and that could be something to look into!
I think his real question is, can he trade audio for storage space?
I would estimate you might get an extra 10 minutes of video on a 2GB card if audio wasn't recorded.

Interesting point Bean, at the moment we don't have any plans to disable the mic in software, but it's an interesting idea for Contour and I'll pass it along.

I did some footage today but have absolutely no audio. What's going on here?
This was the first time I used it.
I would be interested in disabling the mic too in some situations. (I wish there were a button for this.) Not because it saves so much memory but because of the wind noise.
A good idea would also be able to plug in an external audio source. (I would be glad if I could record the instructions from the navigation system.)
