Mitch's Corner - My Tips/Tricks/Ideas!

kanadianiceman

Hey all, Since I am using the VholdR ALOT for all types of applications I thought id have my own little thread since im an addict for online & testing/trying anything & everything.

1st tip! - Securing Rail Mount, Fixing Loose on/off Switch!

Slide your rail mount on (it is universal with handlebar/flat surface/googglestrap) Put it all the way to the front. Make sure it clicks!

Now, on the back of the Mount, Put a zip tie, no cheapies they can and will break!

I used a black one, put it fairly snug. This way it will put pressure on the on/offswitch, and prevent the camera from being dismounted from the Rail mount & velcro!

This will prevent the switch from being turned off by anything brushing against the switch & keep your mount attached!

I used the VholdR for the first time riding yesterday. Grit from muddy / water mix that sprayed the camera from front tire splash was real effective in adding unbelievable resistance to sliding the switch!

I use a rifle scope cover (two of them) the 1st inner one(that fits directly over the lens) you'll have to modify it by cutting off the hinged lens cover it self, now you'll need to put the 2nd one that's the next size up from the one you just cut and slip it over the top of the first one, now your ready to fit it over the cam, it's going to be a tight fit but it works(just push all the way back on to VHOLDR), ... For the VHOLDR no need to flip open the lens cover, BUT for the ContourHD you'll need to flip it open when ever you record, lens shoots very wide for this set up, you wont have to worry to much about bugs hitting the lens any more..
Hope this photo gets loaded.

Very cool,

I hope to get a lenscover made here by next week! for our races.

My only grip is going to be condensation on the inside on wet rides.

I would LOVE to put a lenshood on the vholdr! Putting it on the side of the helmet is pretty good enough

i like that idea. as for condensation you could try some anti mist stuff for helmet visors on the inside of the covers lens.

If you were shooting in SD mode cold you leave the lens cover on/down?
