which video software do you use to edit your vholdr video files

rsvspeed

What edititing software do you use to make video movies from you vholdr files?
when I use MS moviemaker after importing 30 scences it closes unexpectedly.
I also tried Pinnacle studio 12, but the video quality is degraded dramatically when importing the files.
Any suggestions are welcome.

i found this prob with movie maker as well. the best way around that i found is to drag the complete video into the storyboard and then delete the sections that you dont want, its a bit long winded at times with a large file but seems to work. im still learning the ins and outs of movie maker but i am finding it a bit restrictive,i was going to buy pinnacle so thanks for the heads up ,what we could do with is a list of the best editing software that is suitable for the avi files or a top ten software recomended. anyone else any ideas?

I use wmm it used to to close unexpectantly also but it stopped doing that I don't know what I did if anything but it has been working fine most of the summer. I had bought roxio but I prefer wmm, maybe I just don't understand how to use roxio. On my other computer I have cyberlink power director which is great but it doesn't seem to support ffdshow so I cant down load ffdshow on it because powerdirector won't even open then. I even contacted cyberlink and got absolutley no help.

had a chat to a friend who edits wedding videos and he recons that the reason wmm shuts down is due to it using all the available RAM on your system (thats why he uses a mac!!) so perhaps an upgrade may be in order as ive only got 256k available (yeah i know thats a small number but my computor is old)

I have used Sony Vegas to edit video from the VHOLDR camera and it is working well after downloading the latest upgrade.

I have also found this little application: Easy Video Splitter http://www.doeasier.org/splitt...

It is free and lets you split up the movie file in to smaller pieces.

I am having trouble editing my avi files. I can split it with various software, but the 2nd part is always full length. I have the ffdshow codec installed. Tried Virtualdub, MovieMaker, easy splitter. They all do the same thing. I can only trim the end off the video so far. Any ideas?

if you load the complete file onto the story board on wmm you should be able cut out whatever you want. i found out by trying different things on a small practice file of traffic passing my house so i didnt screw up a file i wanted, if you make one of 2 or 3 mins that should be able to provide enough footage to play with. if you watch my crash video that was made out of various files, one of which was 1.8G and all i cut out was a very small chunk. it may require a bit of lateral thinking to get what you want out of wmm, but it can work with patiance.

We're currently going through the beta testing on a new build of the software that will have some editing function built into it. While it won't have all the bells and whistles of the more high end software like Final Cut, it will certainly making trimming a video and getting a good size up on the site much easier.

How does one import the video from the vholdr desktop to WMM?

And has anyone tried to add music to the video? Would that help to cover up the wind noise?

if you open wmm and reduce the size of window so that you have the story board visable then you goto 'my documents' you will find that you will have a file titled 'vholdr video' right click and select explore find the file you want to edit and simply drag and drop that file onto the story board. it should start working for you , dont use the selection process in wmm as you will have grief. as for music if you follow the help section in wmm it will tell you how to put music files in (i have found that it will only accept windows music files though) you can then alter the amount of video audio and music sound track that you want( also in the help section ). on my crash video this was how i done it, you can also turn down the audio of the video to reduce the wind noise. hope that helps ! :)

As pinty , Power Director works just fine, Windows Movie maker does'nt come with W2000!!!, but I probably would not use it anyway.

hey david how are you putting your vids up on the net after you edit them in wmm. it saves it under a mswmm file not a jpg or mpg.

all ive done is create an empty file in the vholdr desktop( i named it wmm experiments) minimized the desktop, opened my documents, opened the 'vholdr videos' file, then found the location of the saved wmm files and draged and dropped them into the empty file in the 'vholdr videos', once i set up the file for the wmm files whenever i make a new one i save it to the file in the 'vholdr videos' file. hope that makes sense! oh to share them open the vholdr desktop and hit the share button. as for it not being mpg its saved as an avi file i think, which make it compatable with the desk top. oh you might have to shut down the desktop and reopen it to register the new file and vids. i need a drink now! ;)

I've been using CyberLink PowerDirector 7 and have run into some limitations of the product. I want to be able to display two videos on one screen (like the Picture in Picture or split screen on your TV set). In particular a forward view and rear view from a motorcycle. Which software can handle two or more videos at one? Thanks in advance!

Im also using CyberLink PowerDirector 7 and it does have the PIP option. The 3rd box under on the timeline is for the PIP movie that you want to use

@davidwhitefield:

Which xvid-decoder do you use with WMM? I've tried several (ffdshow, K-Lite Codec Pack, xvid.org..) but all seem to fail. I only get sound and no video..

The same issue with Adobe Premiere Pro.. I can't see my video-stream, only audio.. For now, i have to convert all my Vholdr-movies with a script running on my Linux-computer.. a waste of time if you have almost 14 Gb of video !! Been snowboarding..;)

im using Xvid-1.2.1 i downloaded from a link that kanadianiceman had posted, i cant find where it is but its somewhere in the forums. one thing to bear in mind is that to make it work you have to uninstall ffdshow if its still on your pc as they seem to conflict in there own little battle for supremacy!! if i find the link i will post it as soon as poss :)

Xvid-1.2.1 Direct Download Link

Xvid Main Download Page - http://www.xvid.org/Downloads....

I would uninstall Divx & FFDSHOW and then install DivX.
