Just got my camera and used it for the first time this past weekend.

Getting severe horizontal banding in night views. I expeceted soft and grainy images in low light but the banding is pretty bad. Is this defect normal with VholdR ?
Thanks,
David

Yeah, that's gonna happen with the VholdR at night. The sensor just isn't really up to night time recording. You can see it's trying as hard as it can to make a picture and the horizontal lines are evidence of it's struggle to do so.

So all VholdR's do this? That's too bad, we have alot of night events. Would be nice if you gave a heads up on the sales literature about the horizontal banding in low light conditions.
I've only had the camera for one week, what now?
Hi machina,
Most cameras will do this. If you use your camera a lot at night I might suggest you try to add a light right next to the camera. It will create a bit of a spotlight video but it should remove the banding. Otherwise, if VholdR isn't going to meet your needs you can certainly return it.
Thanks,

Instead of returning it can i do an exchange + $$$ for the Contour? Will the CHD be any better in the low light conditions?
I really like the form factor of the camera and alot of guys at the track were asking about it.
